Tips for Staying Healthy at the Office Through Winter

Even before the pandemic, when someone would catch a cold at the office, it seemed to spread like wildfire during winter. Staying healthy is important so you won’t have to miss important workdays, meetings, and events. And of course, no one likes to be sick in bed. So, how do you keep healthy when you have an office to report to on the regular?

Wash those hands
One of the most basic ways to keep yourself healthy is to keep your hands clean. Wash them frequently, taking time to really lather up your hands on the palms and back all the way to the wrist. Make sure you’re washing them after using the toilet and before eating.

Wipe down things you touch often
From your keyboard to the door knob to your office, take a minute to quickly wipe commonly-touched surfaces off with antibacterial wipes. This will minimize contact with any germs anyone has left behind.

Go somewhere else for lunch
If you bring your lunch to work, get away from your desk while you eat. Even if you keep a neat and organized desk, there are germs all over it. Plus, if someone has a cold in the office and you can hear them coughing a few cubicles away, do you really want that as your ambience?

Get that sleep
Burning the candle at both ends makes you more susceptible to whatever is going around. In winter in particular, that extra sleep gives your body time to recover and fight away pathogens. Set a bedtime alarm so you’ll go to sleep on time each night. As a side bonus, you’ll wake up feeling great!

Make time for exercise
Winter is a season where everyone feels busy with holidays and events. But taking the time for exercise will help you combat any illnesses. Exercise boosts immune functions, plus you’ll look and feel fantastic when the warmer weather rolls around again.

Stay warm
When it’s cold outside, staying warm helps keep your health in a good way. If it’s drafty where you sit, consider a space heater or wearing layers so you can stay comfortably warm all day long.

Work on boosting your immunity
Eat healthfully and you’ll be serving your immunity. Fresh fruits and veggies gives you loads of vitamins and minerals your body needs to thrive. You can also look to acupuncture which can align your qi and prepare you for the colder months.
