Traveling is beneficial for physical health, mental health, and emotional health, so why not take a trip to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico and improve your health at Hotel Mousai! Here are just a few of the health benefits of traveling.

Physical Activity
Whether walking through the airport, exploring a new city, or adventuring in an outdoor setting, traveling means movement. Many people say that they get more exercise while on vacation than they do at home, so set your step counter and see if the same is true for you!

Some people enjoy participating in sports or adventure activities while traveling. If that’s you, make sure you take full advantage of Hotel Mousai’s facilities including a state-of-the-art gym, outdoor tennis court, and rooftop pool. Hotel Mousai activities also include hiking to the mountain waterfall on the Garza Blanca Preserve. No matter what you like to do on vacation, physical activity is one of the great health benefits of traveling.

Stress Relief
Vacationing relieves stress. Taking advantage of relaxation and wellness services can be one of the most useful health benefits of traveling. Resorts around the world offer luxurious spa services that help you unwind and experience deep relaxation. After a spa vacation, people return home with a renewed sense of wellbeing, lower stress levels, and reduced chronic stress.

Hotel Mousai has one of the best spas in Mexico – Spa Imagine – so make sure to visit and take advantage of all of the services offered, including hydrotherapy, massage therapy, and beauty treatments.

Reduced Risk of Heart Disease and Type 2 Diabetes

Vacationing may reduce the risk of heart disease and type 2 diabetes. A study published in Psychology & Health in 2019 examined the connection between how many vacations people take per year and their symptoms of metabolic syndrome, defined as biochemical and physiological abnormalities in the body that are associated with the development of cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes.

The study measured participants’ waist circumference, blood pressure, triglycerides, HDL cholesterol, fasting blood glucose, and number of vacations taken in the past 12 months. The authors concluded that people who took more vacations were less likely to have metabolic syndrome, whereas people who took less vacations were more likely to have metabolic syndrome.

Since metabolic syndrome is a precursor to heart disease and type 2 diabetes, this research suggests that the more vacations people take, the less likely they are to suffer from heart disease, heart attack and type 2 diabetes.

In other words, there is scientific evidence pointing to the health benefits of traveling and vacationing.

Improved Moods
Traveling improves your mood. Leaving your office or home for a while can do wonders for improving mood, but going somewhere exotic can exponentially increase happiness and joy. Exotic destinations offer many new experiences, like visiting historical sites, natural wonders, or other attractions, and trying different and delectable cuisine.

People who travel tend to return home with an improved outlook on life, enjoy their lives more, and suffer less from depression. All great health benefits of traveling.

Healthy Eating
Traveling offers an opportunity to eat healthy. You can shop for fresh ingredients at local markets and cook at “home” in your hotel suite, or dine in restaurants where chefs prepare local fare. Either way it’s possible to enjoy a diet of fresh fruits and vegetables, meat, fish, local breads and other healthy dishes while on vacation. Depending on where you live, where you travel, and the season, you might find that there are more fresh fruits and vegetables available on vacation than at home. The opportunity to eat fresh and healthy is another one of the health benefits of traveling.

Time With Family and Friends
Social relationships play a huge role in our physical and psychological health. Spending time with family and friends is known to reduce stress and promote health and wellness. Most people travel with family or friends, so get another boost to your health by being in the company of your loved ones while you enjoy your vacation. Another benefit of traveling is meeting new people. Some travelers are lucky enough to meet a lifelong friend, romantic partner, or even a spouse!

Get Out of Your Comfort Zone

Traveling offers the opportunity to venture outside your comfort zone. Whether it’s by physically going to a new place, trying new food, new activities, or even a new language, opportunities to push yourself out of your comfort zone abound.

Even the activity of planning a trip can be a great way to challenge yourself. Making travel plans can be complex, and a lot of research is often involved. Planning a trip is a great way to learn something new.

With all of these benefits to your body and mind, why not take a trip that will positively impact your health and your life?
